LIFE SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
It is fascinating to observe how our customers utilize the simple and elegant designs of our products to facilitate their research and molecular analysis. For example, our chamber products fulfill a need for rapid and economical setup of micro-fluidic chambers for cell and molecular analysis. We are very aware of the need for quality and economy in tools for life scientists. Our chambers are designed with materials that are bio-compatible and chemically resistant. With the expanded use of fluorescent labels, we incorporated the use of materials that do not contribute to fluorescent background. While we make devices that are compatible with robotic liquid handling instruments for high throughput, we also provide devices for smaller scale experiments. Few experiments start out with high throughput, going through smaller scale phases before ramping up the throughput.
As the original inventors of porous nitrocellulose film for protein analysis, Grace Bio-Labs has been continually improving the technology for protein arrays. Our portfolio of protein array products now includes various formulas of nitrocellulose film, compatible reagents and the chambers for incubation of microarrays. We share our expertise with protein arrays in our research corner as well as in product protocols, and continue to lead the market in new technologies for protein arrays.
Our CultureWell ™ products were specifically designed for high-resolution microscopy applications that often culture cells directly on Coverglass. The fragile nature of Coverglass makes it difficult to manipulate without damaging precious samples. CultureWell chambers are affixed directly to Coverglass, streamlining protocols for high-resolution imaging with the ability to culture small populations of cells in parallel.
Through collaborations with leading scientists in protein crystallization, we developed the ProCrystal ™ protein crystallization covers for high-throughput structural studies using hanging drop protocols. We identified materials that are extremely hydrophobic to maintain drop footprint, and importantly we manufacture under stringent quality control to ship a product that is clean and dust-free.
The field of wound repair has recently developed a new technique for enhancing the repair process using silicone splints to surround the wound. We currently manufacture medical grade silicone into pre-cut splints of various sizes that include suture sites for secure attachment to the subject. We also provide silicone sheets for researchers who prefer to make their own splints.
